Studying at the University of Vigo

Erasmus+ and Bilateral Agreements Incoming Students

If you are thinking about studying as an international exchange student in the Uvigo, you must first confirm with the office responsible for mobility programs at your home university that a Student Exchange Agreement exists between both institutions in your field of studies. 

Then you must be nominated as an exchange student at your home University (not neccesary in case of placement's stays).

Nomination:

To nominate their students the partner universities are required to send an email to ori3@uvigo.es with the following information: 

  • Name and surname of the student
  • Email address (important since the later communications will be made by this means).
  • Study field
  • Period of stay
  • Level of studies requested (undergraduate, master or doctorate)

Nomination deadlines:

  • Full year and first semester students (starting on September): 31 May
  • Second semester students (starting on January): 15 October

Once you have been nominated by your home university as an exchange student and accepted at Uvigo, you will receive an e-mail from the International Office with further information on how to proceed to complete the application.

Application:

You will have to complete our online Application Form and you will have to upload to our system the indicated documents (pdf, jpeg or doc format):

Undergraduate students:

  • Scanned copy of ID card or passport
  • A document from your International Office at your home university stating that you are an Exchange student.
  • Scanned copy of your European Health Card or proof of owning any other health insurance with international coverage

Internship/Placement students:

Incoming students wishing to do an internship/traineeship in a Department, Laboratory or other division of the University of Vigo will agree the terms and exact period of the stay with the person under whose supervision in going to develop the stay, before filling in the Application Form. Then, they must upload:

  • A scanned copy of the Learning Agreement for Traineeship duly signed by the student, the international coordinator at his/her home university and the person of the University of Vigo that accepts to act as an academic tutor during the stay. It must indicate the exact dates in which the stay will be developed.
  • A scanned copy of student's ID/passport.
  • A scanned copy of the student's insurance policy, valid in Spain, for medical coverage, accidents and legal liability for damage or injury caused to a third party.

 Master or PhD students:

  • Scanned copy of ID card or passport
  • A document from your International Office at your home university stating that you are an Exchange student.
  • Scanned copy of your European Health Card or proof of owning any other health insurance with international coverage
  • A scanned copy of your undergraduate degree.

Deadlines for submitting the online application form:

  • Full year and first semester students (starting on September): 15 June
  • Second semester students (starting on January): 15 November 

Acceptation:

Once the application form has been duly covered and sent on-line, you will receive an email confirming the receipt of your request.
Upon receipt of the application, the International Relations Office (ORI) of the University of Vigo will send you a letter of official acceptance to the address specified on your application form, which you must bring on arrival at the University of Vigo

All foreign mobility students are officially accepted only upon the confirmation with Letter of Acceptance by the UVigo.

Learning agreement and other accademic issues: 

The students are advised to speak in advance to their academic coordinators (at the sending university) to decide what subjects they are going to take at the University of Vigo. The equivalence of the subjects will be solved with the sending institution prior to contacting the manager for International Relations at the University of Vigo.

Students do not have to upload the Transcript of Records together with the Application Form. If they need to have a signed copy of it before coming to the Uvigo, then they can submit it directly to the academic coordinator at their centre of reference. Here you can find the list of the people in charge of international relations in each centre: List
