HRS4R Human Resources Strategy for Researchers

Selo HRS4R

In 2017, the University of Vigo was acknowledged by the European Commission (EC) with the distinction HR Excellence in Research Award and with the Seal of Excellence.

HR Excellence in Research reflects our commitment to continuously improve and make progress in aligning our human resources policies & strategies to the 40 principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter & Code).

The Charter & Code (C&C) are a set of general principles and requirements for researchers as well as of employers and/or funders of researchers. Its implementation by research institutions render them more attractive to researchers looking for a new employer or for a host for their reserch project.

The EC HRS4R programme supports research institutions and funding institutions in the implementation of the Charter & Code in their policies and practices with the aim to contribute to the consolidation of the European Research Area (ERA) unified and open to the world, based on a market in which researchers, scientific knowledge and technology circulate freely.

The Seal of Excellence is a prestigious endorsement designed to support Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) outstanding applicants whose proposals show exceptional potential but can not be funded under the current EC budget.

Strategy HR Excellence in Research at UVigo

The UVigo is committed to implementate HR standards in 2016. The internal analysis of the UVigo was conducted by an interdisciplinary team, including meetings with members of the governing boards and researchers from all fields of knowledge. As result of the Gap Analysis, several areas of improvement were identified and subsequently described in the Action plan (2017-2019) and in an customized strategy for implementing the principles of the Charter & Code.

During the implementation of the Action Plan, new challenges and actions were identified and implemented, as reflected in the Self Assessment (internal review) and in the Revised Action plan (2019-2022). In 2019, the EC Interim Assessment Report 2019 evidenced a favourable result.

We are currently working towards the 4th phase of the process on implementing the HR Strategy & Action Plan 2019-2022.
