Access to Undergraduates
Admission Procedures
If you wish to begin an undergraduate degree, you must, in addition to meeting the requirements set out in Royal Decree 534/2024 (which establishes the basic regulations for admission procedures to official undergraduate studies), apply for a place.
Please note that some programmes have specific selection requirements or criteria, and others may require proof of English language competence before undertaking the Final Degree Project.
You can consult the list of places available at the Universidade de Vigo for the upcoming academic year. You may also view the offer by campus: Ourense, Pontevedra, and Vigo.
Among the existing admission routes, some must be initiated via the electronic portal — requiring a valid form of electronic identification — and others are initiated through alternative means. Full details are provided below within the description of each procedure.
Prazos e documentación relacionados coa admisión para o curso 2025-2026.
Pre-Registration
You must complete your pre-registration through the NERTA online system, managed by the Galician University System, within the deadlines established by the Interuniversity Commission of Galicia (CiUG).
Please remember that, as the allocation of places is the responsibility of CiUG, any claims or appeals must be addressed directly to this commission.
Admission to the University Centre for Defence Studies
If you wish to study the Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Naval Military Academy in Marín, you must follow the selection process established in the resolution published annually in Spain’s official government bulletin (Boletín Oficial del Estado, BOE)
Recognition of a Minimum of 30 ECTS Credits
If you have already begun official university studies, you may apply for admission via recognition of a minimum of 30 ECTS credits through the electronic portal.
If you do not possess valid electronic identification (e.g., due to not holding Spanish nationality or residence rights), you must initiate the procedure at a Spanish diplomatic mission or consular office, as per Article 16.4.c of Law 39/2015 on Common Administrative Procedure.
Requirements vary depending on whether your previous studies were completed in Spain or abroad:
You may apply if your higher education studies meet the criteria established by the Spanish Council of Universities and you are in one of the following situations:
Incomplete studies
You must prove that your studies did not culminate in the awarding of a degree.
Completed studies
You must confirm that you have neither applied for nor intend to apply for the official recognition (homologation) or academic equivalence of your foreign qualification. If you previously applied for homologation and it was rejected, the resolution must explicitly allow for partial validation.
The admission procedure will be published in the electronic noticeboard prior to the announcement and opening of the call for admissions for each academic year. Applications are accepted between March and April of the year preceding the start of the course. If the programme you wish to access is offered at multiple centres within the Universidade de Vigo, you must select only one.
In order to have subjects recognised, you must demonstrate that the competences and knowledge acquired are equivalent to those of the destination degree programme. Recognised modules will be assigned grades based on the original institution’s grading system.
Recognition will remain valid while the current degree programme is in place. However, admission is valid only for the academic year for which you apply.
If you obtain recognition but are not offered a place, you may apply through the pre-registration process. In this case, your original university studies must be homologated in Spain, and you may need to sit entrance examinations if you wish to improve your admission score, according to the relevant Royal Decree and agreements among the public universities of Galicia.
An additional language test may be required if your country does not have Spanish as an official language.
Resuming Studies after Transferring to Another Institution
If you wish to resume a degree at the Universidade de Vigo after transferring your academic record to another Spanish university or to a different degree within UVigo, you must initiate the procedure via the electronic portal.
Academic centres may readmit transferred students provided that they have successfully completed a minimum of 6 ECTS credits in the programme they intend to resume.
Adaptation Process Due to Curriculum Changes
If you have lost your right to instruction or assessment in a subject within your original curriculum, you may apply for adaptation to the new degree plan through the electronic portal.
You should first consult the Extinction and Implementation Calendar to understand the implications of the curriculum change, particularly the availability of modules.
Be aware that when a new curriculum is implemented, only the first year is usually available initially. If you adapt early, you may find there are insufficient modules to enrol in.
Applications for adaptation must be submitted during the same period as the re-enrolment process.
Change of Academic Centre without Transfer Status
If you are enrolled in a degree programme offered at more than one centre within the Universidade de Vigo and wish to transfer to a different faculty or school to continue the same degree, you must initiate the admission process via the electronic portal.
Admission will depend on the number of places available and will be resolved in accordance with the regulations governing inter-centre transfers within the same degree programme.
Similarly, if you are enrolled in a joint inter-university programme with a shared academic curriculum established through a collaboration agreement, you may request a change of record custody (without legal transfer status), provided that the agreement allows for this possibility.
Students pursuing degree programmes delivered in multiple modes (e.g., face-to-face, blended) or in different languages may also request a change. In all cases, subject to compliance with the university’s regulations on academic progress and permanence, students must submit their request to the governing body of the relevant centre via the electronic portal.
Bridging or Adaptation Courses to a Bachelor's Degree
If you hold a diploma, teaching degree, or technical engineering degree, you may obtain the corresponding Bachelor's Degree by completing a bridging course.
Applications must be submitted via the electronic portal, and the procedure depends on whether your original qualification was issued by the Universidade de Vigo or by another Spanish university.
Completion of Additional Academic Requirements
This procedure allows you to fulfil the additional academic requirements (RFC) established for the conditional recognition of a foreign university degree. You must hold and submit the definitive credential issued by the Subdirectorate General for Degrees, Regulation, Monitoring and Management of University Education of the Spanish Ministry of Universities. This credential must explicitly specify the academic deficiencies to be addressed through the completion of designated supplements.
Applications must be submitted through the electronic portal.
Admission is subject to the implementation of the relevant degree at the Universidade de Vigo and the possibility of completing the required supplements at the chosen academic centre. Both the mechanisms proposed by the Ministry and the academic options available at the centre will be considered.
The maximum period for completing the RFC requirements cannot be extended under any circumstances.
Pursuing an Additional Minor
If you already hold a Bachelor's Degree and wish to pursue an additional minor within the same degree programme, you must initiate the application process via the electronic portal.
The procedure varies depending on where your previous degree was completed:
Admission to a Dual Degree Academic Programme
If you are already studying one of the degrees included in a specific Dual Degree Academic Programme and wish to enrol in the second degree to pursue both qualifications simultaneously, you must initiate the application process via the electronic portal.
Admission will be governed by the regulations for Joint Official Undergraduate Studies at Universidade de Vigo.
In addition, if you are enrolled in a Dual Degree Academic Programme and meet the conditions established in Article 8 of the aforementioned regulations, you may choose to continue with only one of the two degrees and withdraw from the other.
Available Places
After the pre-registration process concludes, if a degree programme has neither students assigned by the Interuniversity Commission of Galicia (CiUG) nor a waiting list, the remaining places will be offered. These offers will be published via the electronic noticeboard.
Admission through this route must be initiated via the electronic portal. Places will be allocated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the date and time of submission.
Priority will be given to applicants not already enrolled in another official degree programme. Applicants requesting simultaneous enrolment will be placed on a reserve list until the end of the allocation process.
Applications will be processed by the Undergraduate Studies Office. Successful applicants will be informed of the steps required to formalise their enrolment.Applicants who are excluded will be notified of the reason for exclusion and, where applicable, of the procedure for progressing their application and the relevant deadlines.
As places are filled, an updated list of available places will be published for each programme.
National or International Mobility: Exchange and Visiting Students
Admission of exchange students is managed in accordance with the relevant programmes, agreements or cooperation frameworks. The International Relations Office (ORI) oversees mobility opportunities for the university community.
Several options are available depending on students’ preferences and circumstances (e.g., ERASMUS+, SICUE, ISEP, COU, GE4, etc.).
Admission of visiting international students is handled by delegation from the Rectorate, with individual resolutions issued by the Vice-Rector responsible for international affairs, based on the report from the international relations officer of the host centre.
The available places indicate the undergraduate study plans that may be pursued under mutual recognition agreements (PARCEIROS). For more information, students should consult the academic centre offering the relevant programme.
