Aida Rosende Perez

Aida Rosende Pérez holds an international PhD in English from the University of Vigo, and her Doctoral Dissertation received the Arts and Humanities Doctoral Award (Uvigo), as well as the Inés Praga Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award granted by the Spanish Association of Irish Studies (AEDEI). She is part of the research group Literary and Cultural Studies, Translation, and Interpreting (BiFeGa), serving as principal investigator for the "Feminisms and Resistance" line. She is also a researcher at the Interuniversity Research Center for Atlantic Cultural Landscapes (CISPAC). Her research focuses on feminist theory and gender studies applied to the critical analysis of literary and audiovisual texts in the English-speaking world. Her work pays special attention to literary and cultural representations of women's transnational displacements, particularly those across the Atlantic Ocean or in/to countries washed by its shores, mainly Ireland and the USA. She is currently working on black feminist theories of survival through the study of breathing as a material process and poetic-aesthetic resource with profound ethical and political implications in the work of black women authors and film-makers. She is a member of the research project Communitas/Immunitas: Relational Ontologies in Atlantic Anglophone Cultures of the 21st Century, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science Education and Universities (2023 - 2026, PID2022-136904NB-I00).
